You will form an integral part of the School of Management’s Placements Team, taking responsibility for all aspects of undergraduate placement support. 

The team support students on courses with both 12 month placements, and 6-month placements. The role holder will be primarily supporting one of these courses alongside another team member. 

As part of the School of Management’s Placements Team based in our brand-new School of Management building, you will ensure that services are efficient, effective and adapt to changing circumstances. The role has daily line management from the School’s Placements Manager, and the wider team work together under the guidance of the Head of Placements, Projects and International Studies. You will also work closely with other Undergraduate Placements Officers, Placements Administrators, plus the Director of Studies who will guide on academic issues.

The role involves account-managing companies, identifying and developing new placement opportunities, managing students and employer recruitment processes, preparing students, designing and delivering a Professional Development Programme, developing common systems and standardised processes on best practice and ensuring that relevant country legislation, University regulations and procedures are adhered to.

This is a busy and varied role involving daily communication with academic and professional services staff, students, and current/potential employers. You will need to have excellent organisational skills, demonstrate a good use of initiative, and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise. Diplomacy, tact and cultural awareness are key to developing strong links that will provide placements in the UK and around the world.

This role is offered on a part time (21.33 hours per week) fixed term basis with an expected end date of 31/01/2027.

<![CDATA[Research Associate in Operations Research for People-Led Net Zero (CH12565)]]> /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=CH12565 /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=CH12565 The School of Management seeks to recruit a Research Associate to research the role of operations research in the adoption of algorithmic solution for public transport, leading to Net Zero.

This role will contribute directly to the vision of the People-Led Net Zero: accelerating the success of people-led solutions enabling the Net Zero transition. You will work as part of a research team within the centre to examine how algorithms and data analysis tools can support the transition to greener transportation solutions.

The ideal candidate:

  • has completed (or submitted) a PhD in operational research and/or transportation
  • has knowledge of optimisation algorithms, both exact and heuristic 
  • have published (or have a manuscript under review) in an ABS3, ABS4, ABS4* journal (the ABS list can be found here )
  • they are very proficient in at least one of these programming languages: C++/Java/Python

A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6) with comparable reduction in responsibilities and amendment in job title to Research Assistant, if a suitable applicant cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position. Applicants will need to be within six months of their course completion date and will be promoted to Research Associate once their PhD has been awarded. 

This is a full-time role for a fixed-term period until October 2028.
