We are looking for a Hospitality Supervisor to join our team at the 星空体育官网. This position is based in Food Direct, a hospitality service delivering catering for meetings, events, and conferences across the University campus. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills as the role includes ensuring all the deliveries are prepared and delivered on time across multiple locations on campus throughout the day. As a Hospitality Supervisor you will supervise and work as part of a team to ensure that an excellent service is provided, and high standards are optimised and maintained. Team work is at the heart of this service and the supervisor is integral to ensuring its success.

Duties include: training team members; rota management; adhering to financial regulations, health and safety and food safety standards; opening and closing shifts and setting up and providing a first class service for catering events and functions. 

The role will be supported by junior staff who you will supervise and guide as well as by on-site managers who will promote your own personal development and growth. Full role details are included in the job description.

The successful candidate will have experience of supervising and excellent standards of customer service in a customer focused environment. 

You will have experience in providing team members with operational training. You will have knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, licensing laws and work well as part of a team. 

You will need to demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure, as it can be extremely busy over peak periods.

You’ll have a key role in helping students transition from living at home to fully independent living and ensuring all our accommodation users have the best possible experience when staying with us.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning accommodation areas
  • Reporting maintenance issues
  • Ensuring health and safety guidance is followed
  • Acting as the face of the department, engaging with students and visitors

This role involves working on a 5 over 7 rota. Cleaning is required in some areas at weekends, therefore there is an expectation to work weekends on a rota basis. Weekend rota work requirements apply mainly during the summer peak period. 

We are flexible on working hours - please outline any specific requests to your application form. This role is 27.5 hours a week working shifts 9am-3pm or 10am-4pm.

You will be responsible for assisting the team with painting and decorating the University's residential buildings, hospitality and catering outlets on campus and in the city. You may also undertake other maintenance activities such as minor repairs and maintenance of the building fabric.

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • have an Apprenticeship in Painting & Decorating or similar to City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Decorating Occupations (Painting And Decorating) or equivalent
  • have practical hands-on DIY skills and the necessary vocational training and experience to undertake routine repairs
  • are familiar with, and happy to work in, the built environment and able to identify and remedy a variety of maintenance tasks and keep all affected informed of the situation
  • have a flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake training to improve knowledge 
  • are committed to the role and able to work individually and as part of a team

Further information

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis.

Hours of working will fall between 08:00 and 18:00, to be worked flexibly as required by operational needs, Monday to Friday.

The Campus Infrastructure Department are responsible for the strategic planning, development and management of the University’s lands and buildings, you will join the Electrical Services team.

Your new job will involve:

  • Undertake small to medium size installations/alterations works as part of building refurbishment or change of use projects.
  • Planned and reactive maintenance activities in the University's academic buildings, residences, and sports facilities. 
  • Repair tasks across the range of electrical building services, plant and equipment 
  • Some simple mechanical work 

You must have:

  • completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship, be qualified to minimum City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification 
  • a BS 7671 18th edition certificate
  • relevant technical experience in larger buildings or commercial facilities
  • good problem solving, customer service and communication skills 

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the maintenance of modern fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, LV distribution, intruder alarms, access control systems, telephone and data wiring
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification
  • Demonstrable mechanical skills or be willing to train for them

Further information:

This is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours (Monday-Friday).

You will be required to taking part in an on-call rota, which attracts an additional allowance. Overtime opportunities are also available.
